At the beginning of the year, you received a phone call about a new task. What did you think of the assignment?

The concept was familiar, and I knew that the previous illustrations were made by Cecilia Carlsted. I liked the assignment. Why shouldn't an everyday product look beautiful?

What kind of clients you have worked with previously?

I have provided illustrations for well-known Finnish brands. It is pleasant to cooperate with consumer brands. The design of the new Lambi products is in line with my other work.

What was your first thought when you started the creative process?

I started to sketch the image world on the basis of ten dreams. I first worked with image collages, and then used a pencil to draw abstract descriptions of dreams. I want to preserve a sketch-like aspect in my work, that is, a genuine touch of a hand.

I worked on the pictorial motifs for about three months. The final result conveys a dream-like atmosphere which does not represent individual dreams, but leaves them open for the viewer to dream of.

What do you think of introducing design to everyday life?

As an illustrator, I'm of the opinion that you can design something beautiful and well-considered on all surfaces. It is great to design something for people's everyday life. My creative input will show throughout 2010.

What is your next dream?

Fabric design.
